This insures her election as governor, as Texas is essentially a one-party state.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Created
AUSTIN   (1963)    On this date in 1963, a merger between the Texas Game and Fish Commission and the State Parks Board formed the new Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

A&M College of Texas renamed Texas A&M

The Texas Legislature in renaming the school was very specific that the "A" and "M" were now purely symbolic, a reflection of the schools past, and going forward no longer stood for "Agricultural and Mechanical".

Lamar State become Lamar University
