Anson Jones, future President of Texas born
NEW HAVEN CT   (1789)    On this date in 1789, Future President of the Republic of Texas was born in Massachusetts. He would go on to serve as President of the Republic of Texas. In 1858, following a political defeat, Jones shot himself at the Rice Hotel in Houston.
