DALLAS Click Here to follow "Dallas Cowboys" back in Time (1962) Click Here to follow "Dallas Cowboys" forward in Time  In their second win of their 1962 season, Dallas fullback Amos Marsh returned a kickoff 101 yards, followed by a Mike Gaechter's 100 yards interception, both in the forth quarter, to secure a 14-19 victory over the Philadelpha Eagles, in Dallas' second win of their 1962 season. Freddy Fender, 69 dies at Corpus Christi
CORPUS CHRISTI Click Here to follow "Freddy Fender" back in Time  (2006)     On this date in 2006 Freddy Fender died at his home in Corpus Christi. He had been diagnosed lung with cancer. Freddy, born Baldemar Huerta, was the first person ever to have simultaneous No.1 hit song on both the Billboard's Country and Pop charts with his 1974 hit song, "Before the Next Teardrop Falls.". Freddy also hit No.1 width with "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights". He was 69. See "Freddy Fender" Page 1D

Nolan Ryan in Relief

Gary Gentry of the Mets is credited with the win, and Texas born, Nolan Ryan the save, in his only career appearance in a world series. Two days later, the mets won the world series in game five.
   In the 1980s, Nolan Ryan was a starting pitcher for the Houston Astros, and helped them win 3 division titles, but in 1969, even though they won the world series, the Mets simply could not beat the Astros, losing 11 of 12 games for the season.
