LUBBOCK   (1931)    On this date in 1931, in the heart of the depression, a student and Texas Tech used a truck load of beans to pay three months rent at the boarding house where he was staying.

Texan, Kelly Clarkson wins American Idol

For her finale song, she sang "A Moment Like This", which later became a smash hit for her. State Boundaries to be fixed by Congress
WASHINGTON DC   (1850)    On this date in 1850, a bill is introduced in Washington by Senator James A Pearce which will fix the boundaries of Texas. The effect of this bill would be that much of the territory of Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and parts of Wyoming would revert to the United States, leaving the boundary similar to modern Texas.
