High Court rules Blacks can vote in Primaries

By an 8-1 vote, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Blacks in Texas must be allowed to vote in the Democratic Primary, something the party had fought for decades.
Sweetwater Demands Representation
On this date in 1921, 5,000 residents of Sweetwater and surrounding Nolan County threated to form a new state if the Legislature continuted to ignore their demands for reapportionment by population (Redistricting), as required by the state Constitution.
