Rail Service reaches San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO (1877)
On this date in 1877, the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway reached San Antonio. Formerly named the Buffalo Bayou, Brazos and Colorado Railroad, the name and Charter were changed to lay rails to San Antonio instead of Austin (it's original destination). Within six years, the lines would extend to West Texas where it met up with the Southern Pacific Railroad near Langtry, becoming part of SP's New Orleans to Los Angeles "Sunset Limited" route.
Dallas Theological Seminary incorporated
On this date in 1925, Evangelical Technological College was incorporated, later to be named Dallas Theological Seminary.
Elvis performs in Odessa High School Field House
On this date in 1955, Elvis Presley gave two performances at the Odessa Senior High School Field House, while on a nine day tour of Texas and New Mexico.
U. S Arsenal at San Antonio seized by Texans
Just two weeks before Texas seceded from the Union, a band of Texans led by Ben McCulloch seized the U.S. Arsenal at San Antonio, on this date in 1861.
First Legislature Meets
On this date in 1846, the Legislature of the newly annexed State of Texas met for the first time.
