NEW YORK CITY   (1857) Click Here to follow "Dr Pepper" forward in Time  On this date in 1857, Charles Courtice Alderton was born in Brooklyn, New York. He studied medicine at the University of Texas at Galveston before moving to Waco.
   His love of the blend of aromas from the flavors used at the snack counter at W.B.Morrison's Old Corner Drug Store where he was pharmacist, lead him to create The Waco Drink, which he later renamed Dr Pepper, named for the father of a girl he admired in Virginia, Charles Pepper.
   Dr Pepper (with no period after "Dr") is the oldest soft drink in the world.
