The three colors, Red, Green, and Blue, are very important to our discussion
about web page color. To create all the other colors which you see on a monitor,
the monitor illuminates adjacent phosphors of different color and to different
degrees of brightness.
By varying the proportions of Red, Green, and Blue, you can create any color
visible to the human eye. Each color is controlled by a separate gun at the rear
of the monitor. This "gun" receives its signal from the computer. Each
gun is governed separately, and their orders travel from the computer to the
monitor along separate wires. If a peg is bent in the monitor plug, a screen may
appear yellow, magenta or cyan.
