Bahama Mamas was founded in April, 1993 by Joe-Bob "Hang Ten" Wilson,
former lead singer of the Surfer Boys.
In 1996, Bahama Mamas was relocated from Boise Idaho to its present locations
at Port Aransas on the Texas Gulf Coast.
Today Bahama Mama's Surf Shops have a staff of 67 employees at seven shops located at Port Aransas, Corpus Christ, South Padre Island, Austin, Galveston, Houston, and his newest location in Gulfport, Mississippi. With combined sales of over $2.7 Million in 2006, Bahama Mamas is the largest retail surf equipment sales outlet in Texas, and the 4th largest whole sale distributor Nationwide.
