On this date in 1993, approval was given by the NBA for the sale of the San Antonio spurs by Red McCombs to a group headed by Bob Coleman and Robert McDermott. Both parties agreed to the sale back on Feb 19th, but on this date in 1993, the NBA gave it's final approval.
On this date in 1918, Texas Governor W.P.Hobby signed his name to a bill giving women in Texas the right to vote in all primary elections and nominating conventions. It would be the following year before Texas passes the 19th amendment giving women the right to vote in all elections.

On this date in 1861, the Constitution of the Confederate States of America was ratified by the Texas Secession Committee. Sam Houston had opposed Texas leaving the Union, just 14 years after joining it. Many German-Texans who gave up everything to migrate to the United States and Texas, were also opposed to sesession.
