On this date in 1974, the Oakland Raiders defeated the Dallas Cowboys 27-23, leaving Dallas with an 8-6 records, and for the first time in eight years, Dallas fails to make the NFL Playoffs.

On this date in 1965, Houston Astro outfielder Craig Biggio was born in Smithtown, New York. Biggio spent his entire major league career with the Houston Astros, being the first player in club history to reach 3,000 hits. At the end of the 2007 season, Biggio retired after 17 years in the major leagues. Biggio is the National spokesman for the Sunshine Kids Foundation, for children with cancer.
