Charles Siringo was a real Cowboy. At 22, he drove a heard of cattle into the Texas Panhandle and started his LX Ranch. In 1885, he published his first book, "A Texas Cowboy". Later, he joined the Pinkerton Detective agency, and tracked down criminals such as Billy the Kid. More books followed, and by the time of his death on this date in 1927, Siringo was one of the most celebrated cowboy authors of all time. He was 73.
