For decades, Austinites tuned in to KLBJ to listen to Cactus humorous tidbids about life past and present in Texas. One of his more memorable bits took place in the 1980s, as a spoof of Eddie Childs "I'm Mad, Mad, Mad". Cactus turned that into a rant about everyday things that make him mad too. Soon bumper stickers and T-shirts popped up in Austin "I'm Mad Too, Cactus". Another memorable spoof was his version of The Huntley Brinkly Report.
In addition to his morning radio segment, Cactus was a noted interviewer with politicians and movie stars. His list of interviews includes Author Godfrey, Dan Blocker and several politicians. Cactus was an personal friend of President Johnson and his family.
The rest of America may have had Paul Harvey, but Austin had Cactus Pryor.
