In NFL history, no team has scored two 100-yard runs in the same game, and especially not in the same quarter. Dallas would finish the 1962 season 5-8-1.

On this date in 2006 Freddy Fender died at his home in Corpus Christi. He had been diagnosed lung with cancer. Freddy, born Baldemar Huerta, was the first person ever to have simultaneous No.1 hit song on both the Billboard's Country and Pop charts with his 1974 hit song, "Before the Next Teardrop Falls.". Freddy also hit No.1 width with "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights". He was 69.

In the 1980s, Nolan Ryan was a starting pitcher for the Houston Astros, and helped them win 3 division titles, but in 1969, even though they won the world series, the Mets simply could not beat the Astros, losing 11 of 12 games for the season.
