On this date in 1941, Doug Sahm, lead singer for the Sir Douglas Quintet was born in San Antonio. The band rode the wave of the British Rock invasion of the 60s, by dressing British, but they were all Tex-Mex. The biggest hit "She's About a Mover" hit No.13 on Billboard's Top 100 in the spring of 1965.

On this date in 2007, country music legend, Hank Thompson died in Keller. He was the first musician of any genre to hit the Billboard charts in six different decades. He had been suffering from lung cancer.
