On this date in 1855, Author and Pinkerton Detective, Charlie Siringo was born in Matagorda County. His half dozen books were written from a cowboy who actually lived it all. From 1886-1907, Siringo was a member of the Pinkerton Detective Agency. More books followed. There was a brief television series and a movie made about his life. He died in 1927.

On this date in 2001, Dale Evans, wife and co-star with Roy Rogers, died. She and husband, Roy, starred in afternoon's favorite television Western, "The Roy Rogers Show". She and Roy would end each episode of the show singing together "Happy Trails to You", and all the kids at home would sing along.
On this date in 1976, The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame was dedicated along the Brazos River in Waco. It will be home to artifacts from over 100 years of the Texas Rangers including memorabilia from Bonnie and Clyde.
