(1974)
On this date in 1974, a break-in occurred at Hughes' Romaine Street headquarters in Los Angeles. Hughes was no longer in direct control of Hughes Aircraft, but he was still in possession of very sensitive documents from his many years of dealings with the CIA, the Nixon administration, and covert operations in Cuba. The theft of theses secret documents sends shockwaves throughout the U.S. intelligence community.
